The Joys of Pet Adoption
Have you ever seen a puppy make an entrance into a group of people engaged in serious conversation? Or a kitty jump onto the lap of a quiet individual? It is amazing to see how an animal can transform the mood of a person or a group with little more than their presence. And on a larger scale, this is true when an individual or a family decides to adopt a pet into their home.
A pet provides companionship to its owner. Each pet has his or her own personality, and welcoming a new pet into your home gives you a chance to get to know that pet. As people, this is an action that really gives us deep-down pleasure. Some traits will be predictable and common to the type of animal or the breed. Like most dogs are going to get excited when you arrive home, and most cats are going to love to sleep in a sunny window. But then there will be those unique personality traits (or maybe better termed quirks) that you can discover. These will be the ones that make you scratch your head in amazement or laugh in pure astonishment. Like the dog that figures out how to get onto the cupboard and rips open the bag to get to his food. Or the cat who likes to perch on top of the refrigerator as if that’s a perfectly normal place for cats to sit.
A pet needs care from its owner. Owning a pet is not all smiles and laughs. As living creatures, pets have certain nonnegotiable needs. They need to be fed, they need a place to potty, and they need love and attention. That’s really just a start of their basic daily needs. There are also trips to the vet, exercise, warm cozy places to sleep – you get the idea. But far from this being a negative, it is actually a reason to consider pet adoption. Another human need we have is the need to feel needed. It makes us feel good to care for the needs of another and look out for their good. Since this is true of everyone from children all the way up to the elderly, pets make a good addition to any household. Pets are happy to be the cuddly recipients of our need to be needed.
At Langenwalter Carpet Cleaning, we love pets and are happy to see families willing to adopt pets and give them a good home. There are so many animals that find themselves in a shelter or humane society with no one to take care of them. We are proud to help support organizations that seek to find a good home for animals (like the Indianapolis Humane Society) or that provide services to pet owners (like the Spay Neuter Society of Indiana). We are also planning a special event this summer with a chance for pet owners to have pets micro-chipped. We will send out more details in the near future via social media. (Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to stay in the loop.) Life is always more fun with a furry friend!
