Our office staff is kind, caring and always happy to answer questions or concerns our customer’s might have. At Langenwalter we want our customers to feel comfortable when they enter our building or call us. This week we are featuring our Office Manager Julie Cross. She’s one of the many faces you’ll see when you stop by the office, and you also might get a chance to chat with her on the phone if you call Langenwalter with any questions or to set up an appointment. Get to know more about Julie and how she keeps Langenwalter running in tip-top shape.
What is your official job title at Langenwalter and what are some of your responsibilities?
My official title is Office Manager. I am sort of a Jack of all trades in the office. I oversee financial transactions, payroll, customer interactions and I’m constantly checking our Angie’s List ratings. I’m also the middle woman between some of the local Realtors, including FC Tucker and their sellers. I’ll go to vendor fairs and talk to Realtors, or rental owners and share information with them about our services. By doing that, I’m helping their sellers and tenants save money and spreading the word about Langenwalter. I’m also always trying to answer the phone. I usually explain our services to our customers or inform them of what they need to expect the day of their scheduled appointment.
How long have you worked for Langenwalter?
I have worked for Langenwalter for 12 years. I started back in 2002. It’s different than any other place I’ve ever worked. You never know what’s going to happen next, but it’s exciting. What I love the most is that our workplace is like family. We know when we are pushing each other’s buttons or when someone needs a pick-me-up. I love the atmosphere. Everyone has been here a long time and I think that’s why there isn’t any drama. Whenever I’m having a stressful day, the team always has my back. You don’t find a group like us very often, so I’m glad I’m here.
What is an average day like for you?
Each morning when I come into the office I take a look at the schedule from day before and check the hours for our service technicians. I make sure everyone gets credit for the hours they work. I also make sure that all of the information for each job in our computer system is up to date and filled out correctly. Then I check the current day’s schedule and I might have to switch a job or two around to save drive time for the technicians. Check the Angie’s list ratings daily. And in between all of that I’m answering phone calls or trying to put out fires. There’s never a dull moment here!
What’s the best part of your workday?
I love that I get to come in and work with great people every day. They offer a pat on the back or say, “Good job” whenever I need it. They are such a great support system for me. They have my back. We are always there for each other.
What’s the most stressful part of your workday?
The workday can get stressful when things start to pile up because of phone calls and other issues that come up in the office. Just like a lot of other jobs it’s stressful when your to-do list doesn’t get done and more things get added to it. I also worry about meeting customer expectations. It doesn’t matter where you work, when a customer is unhappy, you get a little stressed out.
What are some of the strangest questions customers have asked you?
Oh goodness, we get all types of calls from customers. An old plastic surgeons office used to have the same phone number as us, so sometimes we will get calls from people wanting to schedule an appointment with the plastic surgeon. We also will get calls for blood stain removal and we are definitely not a crime scene clean up company, so that’s a little weird and scary. Sometimes we have people call asking for us to clean their drapes and paint their ceilings. We just have to tell them that we don’t offer those services.
Why should people call Langenwalter over any other company?
We are the best. We aren’t perfect. We are human, we do make mistakes, but we always make it right. I think that sets us apart from a lot of other carpet cleaning businesses. Plus, we are all family here. Our team works really well together and Langenwalter is locally owned and managed by a family. I trust each and every person I work with. We have the best technicians, equipment and office staff. We care about our customers and the services we provide them. We are just the total package.
Julie helps keep Langenwalter running smoothly while helping out other employees in any way that she can.
