Employee Spotlight – Julia O’Malley
Did you know Julia O’Malley, our Logistics Coordinator and Staffing Specialist, also organizes and coordinates Langenwalter’s charity partnerships and
donations? It’s a secret passion of Julia’s that we want our customers to know about! Keep reading to learn more about Julia’s role at Langenwalter and why she’s such an important part of our team.
Julia has been working for Langenwalter for the past seven and a half years. Her official title might be Logistics Coordinator and Staffing Specialist, but she sees herself more as the office mom. Julia said, “The guys started calling me the mom of the office because I’m always checking in on everyone, much like I do with my own kids. I’m a mom of four, all girls, so I have a lot of experience when it comes to keeping people on a schedule and on task. But I also have that motherly side to me where I want to make sure everyone is ok. We are like one, big family at Langenwalter.”
But Julia is so much more than just the office mom. Julia said, “Most of what I do centers around our customers. Langenwalter, as a company, is very focused on customer service and customer satisfaction. I put out fires anywhere I can. I also make sure everything is running smoothly in the office. We work hard to make sure our technicians are prepared for each job so there are no problems. The phones are always ringing and I answer a lot of customer questions throughout the day. Some questions are stranger than others, but no two phone calls are the same.”
In fact, sometimes a customer question isn’t asked over the phone. Julia said, “One time I had a customer send me a video of her child who had spilled paint all over the house so we could see the severity of the mess.”
So when Julia isn’t answering customer questions or solving problems, she’s managing Langenwalter’s charitable efforts. Julia said, “Working with local charities or non-profits is my favorite part of my job. Mitch came to me one day and asked if I could do some research about getting involved with some local charities and I jumped at the chance. Mitch and Jennifer are so generous, and no organization is too small to work with. They love supporting their community.”
But this isn’t Julia’s first experience with charities. Julia said, “The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure has a special place in my heart because my mother is a 10 year breast cancer survivor. My family is always looking for fun ways to get involved and support breast cancer research.”
So what charities does Langenwalter partner with? Julia said, “We work with such a diverse group of charities. Whether it’s donating time, money or just some extra supplies we can donate, they are always willing to help out. We recently collected empty, five gallon buckets to donate to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. Mitch and Jennifer are always on the lookout for new ways we can get involved as a company. Mitch might see something mentioned in the paper that he wants me to look into, but they are always aware of what’s going on. No volunteer opportunity is too small for us, and that’s what makes our company different from the others. We’re not looking to just write a check and call it day. We love getting our hands dirty and getting out into the community to make a difference.”
Julia also manages Langenwalter’s Referral Rewards program. This program gives customers the opportunity to give back, too. Julia said, “Another huge part of my job is our Referral Rewards program that I helped set up and manage. When an individual refers a new customer to us, upon completion of this job, I will send the referral source a referral reward certificate that reflects 10% of this first time job. The referral source can choose to redeem this in the form of a check, use it towards their next Langenwalter job, or they can choose to donate this amount to their favorite charity. It’s just another way Langenwalter helps encourage giving back.”
Besides Langenwalter’s dedication to their customers and local charities, the company goes the extra mile to make a difference. Julia said, “We have such a low turnover rate at Langenwalter because we love working together, we love our customers and we love what we do. We truly are a family and we stick together, we’re always looking out for one another. We have the best technicians in the industry. They are well trained, certified and are always looking to learn more to perfect their craft. We are dedicated to our customers and our community, and I think that says a lot about us as a business. The whole team is just amazing.”
