2007 – Colts Win 29 to 17
During a wet and wild night of football, the Indianapolis Colts, Tony Dungy, and Peyton Manning won the ‘Big Game’ with a 29-17 victory over the Chicago Bears. Who could forget a beaming Peyton Manning hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in the rain in Miami? A somewhat sloppy game played on a very sloppy field was sealed for the Colts when Kelvin Hayden intercepted a wobbly pass from Rex Grossman and returned it 56 yards for a touchdown.
1986 – Bears Route Patriots 46 to 10
Just after the Colts moved to Indianapolis and before they made their playoff runs, the Chicago Bears were the team of choice for many fans in central Indiana. The Bears dominant defense was on display during the 20th edition of the ‘Big Game’. Who can forget watching rookie “fullback” William (Refrigerator) Perry bust through for a 1-yard TD run in the Bears’ dominating blowout of the Patriots?
1989 – 49ers 20, Bengals 16
In their first ‘Big Game’ in four years, the 49ers had scored just one touchdown and trailed the Bengals 16-13 with 3:10 left to play. The Niners took possession at their own eight-yard line, and Joe Montana proceeded to march the offense down to the Cincinnati 10. With 39 seconds left, the Niners ran a pass play and Montana spotted John Taylor as he broke loose deep in the end zone. Montana fired a pass to Taylor for the touchdown and the 49ers won, 20-16, breaking the hearts of Bengal fans.
This year’s game is sure to have its own memorable moments. Join in the fun of predicting the score and give Langenwalter Carpet Cleaning the chance to make this ‘Big Game’ one you won’t forget!
